    Thank you so much for taking a peek and exploring my blog. I’m Kara May, a portrait and commercial fashion photographer living in Mesa, Arizona. Due to a loyal client-base in the Seattle, Washington area, I also travel limited amounts each year. Please inquire about travel rates if you are interested in booking a session with me in your city.

    Throughout this blog I will be posting previews from recent client sessions, featuring the talent of various clothing designers & products in my ‘Designer Spot’, and sharing a little bit about me and my life outside of photo sessions and commercial projects. I have two busy young children and a loving & supportive husband all of whom I mention throughout my blog. My family provides the inspiration and support I need to evolve in my work behind the camera.

    Thanks again for checking out my blog!

So one of my favorite designers is at it again!  I don’t think she sleeps.  She’s always stocking her shop with new knit creations and they are selling out so quickly!  She makes hats in a variety of styles, colors and sizes for both boys and girls.  And she has the MOST beautiful dresses!  They are some of my favorites to put Brielle in!  Not only hats, and dresses but hair accessories, scarves, cocoons, leg warmers and more.  Check out her shop for all the goodies. :)  she’s on Etsy too!

Hi…I’m in LOVE with your photography style. Just stunning! I also am in love with the skirt your daughter is wearing. May I ask where that is from?

Adorable hats and even more amazing photography! Your kids are always such perfect models. I think I need a hat or two for my girls, they would love these with our snowy weather here in Michigan.

{brunette beauties}

Brunette’s!   Gorgeous brunette’s!    Isn’t this family beautiful?  This session was taken when it was still warm so it was perfect for our session.   Things have changed and it’s now suddenly REALLY cold!  Eeps!  And I’m still doing sessions – 3 more this year and then I’m done for 2011!  Here’s a peek at our session.

{Fall Sessions – Little Savannah}

Wow, I feel like a slacker!    I photographed this family in Late October or Early November…everything’s a blur this this month lol.  Anyway, I have photographed little Savannah since she was a newborn.  I just love her and her parents.  A little baby brother is on the way in March, doesn’t my client  look beautiful pregnant?  Here’s a peak at our session.:)  Hope everyone is enjoying this holiday season!  I just started my Christmas shopping and thanks to Amazon.com I’ve been laying in bed in the evenings doing my shopping!  It’s awesome!  Such a relief and I’m avoiding the craziness of the stores.  I’m almost done now!  Yay!  Happy shopping, baking, wrapping and eating (I just made eggnog bread- delish!):)

What a magical session! :)

{I’ve been a super bad blogger :( but I’m here!}

I don’t have a good excuse of why I’ve been such a bad blogger. I’ve been busy and I keep saying…oh I’ll blog that session tomorrow and then I get busy again.  Bad.  I have had one of the busiest busy seasons since moving to Arizona and it’s been the best one too.  I’m not feeling burned out even when I’m up till midnight editing.  My secret?  I’ve been shooting and the night of each shoot I stay up and edit the whole session and post their gallery so it’s done!  It’s made all the difference in the world for my clear head, time with family, stress, etc.    I’ve created a bunch of actions I used for each image and just run them all on every picture so it’s a real time saver and I’m a happier person, mom, and wife:)

So I’m going to try to get caught up on blogging all my sessions but for now I’m just going to do a quick post on a session I did with my kids this evening.  They haven’t been in front of my camera since Halloween so I’ve missed them ;o)

NatashaNovember 28, 2011 - 9:41 am

As usual, you are simply beautiful in your work!! Just love you! If you are ever in LA/Ventura, we NEED to be photographed by you!! You words inspire me… staying up until midnight editing. I have pictures and video that is backlogged for months. If only I could stay up each night, just a little bit, it would not be so overwhelming. On a side note.. love your music on your site. It is really moving and oh so perfect!!!!

mugsie5November 28, 2011 - 8:32 am
