Kara May Photography Blog bio picture
  • {The Blog}

    Thank you so much for taking a peek and exploring my blog. I’m Kara May, a portrait and commercial fashion photographer living in Mesa, Arizona. Due to a loyal client-base in the Seattle, Washington area, I also travel limited amounts each year. Please inquire about travel rates if you are interested in booking a session with me in your city.

    Throughout this blog I will be posting previews from recent client sessions, featuring the talent of various clothing designers & products in my ‘Designer Spot’, and sharing a little bit about me and my life outside of photo sessions and commercial projects. I have two busy young children and a loving & supportive husband all of whom I mention throughout my blog. My family provides the inspiration and support I need to evolve in my work behind the camera.

    Thanks again for checking out my blog!

{Project 26 – ‘Dream, Dream, Dream’}

This weeks Project 26 theme could go in sooooo many directions. The ‘dream’ theme fit perfect with what my kids have been talking a lot about this week.  Brielle in particular has had nightmares.  She talks about them the next morning.  So we started talking about how she can take control and turns those nightmares into dreams that make her happy and peaceful.  Then she blurted excitedly, ‘I can catch my dreams’.   So we did this project’s session with that in mind.  She giggled most of the time especially when we played with the stars and the hearts {they tickled her head and her face}.
As I mentioned last week, we have a new addition to the group this week!  Sarah Lynn Cornish the talent behind ‘My Four Hens Photography’ has joined our group! Please click here to see her beautiful take on this weeks ‘Dream’ theme and continue through the circle of talented photographers.

{Ingrid B. Design’s Spring 2012 Clothing Line}

It’s SPRING!  And pretty  much summer her in AZ.  And for Spring & Summer Ingrid B. Design’s has made some very fun, color outfits for girls…she never disappoints!   Everytime I see something new of hers I’m amazed at her eye and her sense of detail.  She has a very creative and beautiful eye for fun coordinates for every season.  I love love love the yellow top with the black lace, and the stripped dress (the fabric is so soft}, and the ruffling on her floral skirt…um, perfect!!!  I was lucky to have these beautiful friends of ours help model.  Brielle has a hard time being serious around friends (as you can see in the image above) – most of the time it’s faces that I can’t post here lol.  She’s just a goof which makes it a challenge sometimes lol.  But these three girls work so well together.  Aren’t they adorable?!  I love their different looks.  The girls were so eager to searching for ladybugs so I ended the session early so they could be ‘kids’ and find ladybugs.  Brielle modeled the outfits again the next day so we could get more shots and she fell in love with the flowers that I had set up.  Again, she wanted to find ladybugs so she could put them on the flowers.  Here’s a peek at Ingrid B. Design’s Spring 2012 Collection.  :)

Just wanted to follow-up on yesterday’s status about my Critique Class. It  ’SOLD OUT’ in less than 24 hours – yay!  There may still be some ‘silent seats’ available.  Let me know if you’re interested or if you have any questions.  For those of you who signed up – I’m so excited to work with you.  I would love to be in touch with you prior to the class starting.  You can bounce things off me and ask any questions about the critiquing process  (although I know Kelli will be in touch with you prior to the class’s official kick-off).  E-mail me at kara@karamayphotography.com and let me know if you have an active seat or a silent seat and we can do a little corresponding and maybe you can tell me what you’re unsatisfied with in your current photos if there’s something particular you’re concerned about.  I’m looking forward to our class.  Thank you so much for signing up.
